TRI is a community of scholars and professionals with decades of experience in public and private research, analysis, and policy. Drawing from leaders in academia, government, and industry, TRI was founded to provide a forum for bringing these minds together in pursuit of independent research and the integration of innovative ideas across a breadth of disciplines. The concept of TRI was born out of years of collaboration between members on a wide range of public policy issues. As relationships evolved, thinking began to coalesce around a single shared ideal: pragmatism.

After careful consideration, TRI’s founding members decided to form an institute to provide private and public actors with a dispassionate venue to explore and understand complex social issues. Thus, TRI was born to formally organize decades of observations, cooperation, and knowledge.
