TRI scholars are active in current research projects in a variety of fields nationally and internationally. Four examples of this research are summarized below (often in cooperation with other TRI scholars).


International Public Finance

Roy Bahl continues his research in public finance on an international basis. His current projects include analysis of issues relating to fiscal decentralization and fiscal equalization within regions, and fiscal federalism and economic reform.


Financial Institutions and Markets

Harold Black is exploring regulatory issues facing financial institutions such as the responsiveness of financial markets to regulatory change, how CRA-related events affect shareholder wealth, and questions of discretionary pricing and discrimination mortgage overages.


Income Wealth and Homeownership

Tom Boehm continues his research on the relationships between income, wealth accumulation, and home ownership, the determinants of inter racial differences in neighborhood preferences, and the question of whether home ownership by parents has an economic impact on children.




Economic Development and Poverty

Dan Rickman and Mark Partridge are exploring how specific economic development can help high-poverty counties, why some counties moved out of persistent high poverty status in the recent past, and the causes of regional variations in poverty rates.
