Alan Schlottmann is a recognized scholar in urban and regional economics and applied microeconomics. In addition to currently serving as Director of Research, Lied Institute for Real Estate Studies at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, he is Professor Emeritus, The University of Tennessee where he was William Stokely Scholar, Stokely Management Center. Prof. Schlottmann has received national awards from the Regional Science Association, the Southern Regional Science Association, and international recognition from the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research.

Investigative public policy studies include work for both houses of Congress, US General Accounting Office, and numerous federal, state, and local entities. Consulting with listed Fortune 500 firms include internet, utility, and technology companies. International projects include work for the Volkswagen Foundation, the Netherlands, Sweden, and China. His testimony includes research and appearances before state legislatures and local governments as well as Congress, the Senate, and Dutch Parliament.

His published work includes several books including Industry Location and Public Policy as well as numerous policy treatments of housing, the labor force, migration and population issues, economic growth and development, and related public finance topics. Back
