Senior Demographer RAND Prof Morrison is an internationally recognized demographer and the founding director of the RAND Population Research Unit. Through numerous publications and public presentations, he has not only raised awareness of population issues but provided a scirentific basis for population policy. Prof. Morrison has been an active presenter to the National Science Board, which is not only a scientific advisory board to Congress but also the governing body of the National Science Foundation. Prof. Morrison has been a national leader in providing the implications of demographic trends on national economic and political trends. Issues addressed in his research include such issues as coping with a reduced workforce and growing elderly population, reducing inequalities and barriers to opportunity, and balancing the competing needs of different generations and ethnic groups. Prof. Morrison has served as advisor to the Committee for Economic Development, the Congressional Research Service, and committees of the National Academy of Sciences, U.S. Bureau of the Census, Department of Agriculture, National Institutes of Health, California Energy Commission, California Governor's Council on Growth Management, Center for California Studies, and United Way. He has given testimony before both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.Back |
